Like the day Zayn announced he was leaving One Direction, today is one that history will remember with bittersweet tears.

Today, Valegro officially enters retirement.

His send-off ceremony at Olympia, the London International Horse Show, will no doubt be fraught with emotional remembrances and happy/sad feels as dressage pays tribute to one of the greatest horses ever to grace the 20 x 60.

In celebration of the record setting gelding, the FEI created a 12-minute career highlights video. Presumably because there was just SO MUCH amazing material, it was impossible to get it down to five minutes or fewer. Take a moment (or 12) to be in awe.

During his storied career with Charlotte Dujardin (GBR), “Blueberry” captured four Olympic medals (three gold and one silver), individual gold at the World Equestrian Games, and back-to-back World Cup Final and European Championship titles. He holds the current world records in Grand Prix, Grand Prix Special, and Freestyle. In Rio, their final competitive appearance together, Dujardin and the 15-year-old gelding set a new Olympic record of 93.857% in the Freestyle, to clinch their second career Individual gold.

Catch Valegro’s retirement ceremony tonight, December 14, on FEI TV at 5:25pm EST.
