Henrik von Eckermann called it a “good start” to the World Cup season. By “good,” he meant was he captured a career-first Grand Prix win—five-star no less—for 10-year-old BWP mare Qasirah van de Reistenhoek.
The former world No. 1 jumped to the top of the leaderboard in the 1.55m Rikstoto Grand Prix in a time of 32.56, the only sub-33-second time in the 14-horse jump-off. He bested Switzerland’s Steve Guerdat and Hadj de Bliniere by over half a second (33.13), and Martin Fuchs and Lorde by nearly a full second (33.44).
Or, as the kids say, he cooked. He ate and left no crumbs. He— you get the picture.
Developed by Belgium’s Viktor Daem up to the 1.45m level, Qasirah van de Reistenhoek was acquired in part by von Eckermann in March 2025 and in full in November that same year. In 16 months, the pair has moved up to the 1.60m height and recorded seven podium finishes—three at the 1.55m height (Jumpr stats).
Good indeed.
Come Sunday’s World Cup qualifier, the Swedish rider has elected to compete his veteran mount King Edward. He told Equisport.tv:
“He had a break that lasted for a year and then got started [back in international competition]. It felt just like old regular clothes—[the] jump is very stretchy and nice and I don’t feel any difference to him being 16 years old now.”
