Rene Dittmer and Corsica X have been knocking at the door of a big win and on Sunday at the Hampton Classic, it opened.

Since 2022, Dittmer and the 11-year-old Holsteiner mare have jumped to 17 FEI podium finishes, including two Grand Prix wins. Over 24 rounds at 1.60m, they jump clear at a 46% clip and into the top 10 55% of the time (Jumpr stats).

But the past 11 months have seen their most success—and top three personal-best finishes.

First, there was their second place finish in the CSI5* Longines FEI Jumping World Cup at Upper Marlboror last October. Two months later, they won their first 1.60m Grand Prix, a 4* in Wellington, FL.

On September 1, they claimed their best result yet, the Longines Hampton Classic 5* Grand Prix in New York.

It’s the first 5* star Grand Prix title for both horse and rider and comes at the end of a foot-perfect week for a pair.

“My horse was unbelievable this week; she jumped five clear rounds and didn’t have a rail down all week,” said Dittmer. “I’m really grateful that Mark Miness trusts me with this horse. I’m super happy and still can’t quite believe that this win happened in such a prestigious event.”

Eight of forty starters found a clear path around Nick Granat’s technical 17-effort, 1.60m course to advance. Only two managed to repeat the feat in the jump off.

Dittmer and Corsica blazed through the timers in 37.55 seconds. Mimi Gochman (USA) and Inclen BH took second in 38.58.

“I tried to go fast without being too crazy,” Dittmer said. “I knew Jordan (Coyle) and McLain (Ward) were coming after me, so I had to do what I could to make them chase the time. It worked out because if McLain had gone clear, he would’ve been faster and won. Today went in my favor, and it really is just unbelievable.”
