The body of 37-year-old horse trainer Monique Snowden was pulled from the Green River Sunday night near her home in Enumclaw, WA. Authorities believe Snowden committed suicide by jumping from a bridge. Snowden’s truck was found parked nearby.

Hours earlier, Snowden watched her promising 2-year-old The Chilli Man suffer a catastrophic, and ultimately fatal leg injury during a race at Emerald Downs.

Snowden’s husband Dennis is also a thoroughbred trainer, working under Frank Lucarelli. The Chilli Man, owned by Nelson Family Racing, suffered a bilateral sesamoid fracture early in the race and was vanned off. He was euthanized a short time later. Snowden came to racing from the eventing world, and had been training racehorses at Emerald Downs since 2009.

She talked about her passion for horses and life in this interview last year.

Our hearts go out to her friends and family.
