Equestrian brand ambassadors are a dime a dozen these days. Swoon-worthy hundred-thousand dollar horses and their riders promoting everything from bits and boots to nasal strips and blankets. One thing you don’t often see? A company like Sani-Care, who’s “brand ambassador” is an 11.2-hand, 20-something-year-old pony with one eye.
Mercy may not be tall, dappled and winning classes on the A-circuit, but to her new family in New York, Mercy is worth her weight in gold. It’s a happy ending that very nearly could have been a tragedy: Mercy was pulled from a group slaughter-bound horses in Ohio by Bella Run Equine Rescue, where she was treated for a punctured eye and other ailments.
