Like any good vacation, it must have felt like it took California Chrome forever to get there. Although, in his case, it kind of did.

After smoking the rest of the field at the $10 million Dubai World Cup on March 26th, the 5-year-old dynamo was shipped back overseas on the 31st, where he was quarantined for a few days in Chicago. Late Sunday afternoon, he headed south on the six-hour van trip to Taylor Made Farm in Nicholasville, Kentucky, where he’ll (finally!) enjoy a month-long vacation full of sun, fun, and apparently, one hell of a sand pit.

We don’t often get the chance to enjoy watching elite racehorses out there being pasture puffs, but this video from TC Insider (also shared on Facebook by jockey Victor Espinoza) shows Chrome livin’ large in a big grass field and loving every minute of it.

He may not know that today, he’s $10 million dollars richer, but it’s clear from this video that Chrome does know he’s pretty darn special indeed.
