Tackling long put off home improvement projects has been a popular pandemic pastime.

Jan Tops is no exception. The brain force behind the Global Champions Tour/League spent a bit of his downtown in 2020 fixing up the farm in Valkenswaard, NED. Specifically, he coverted the massive 125m x 85m Tops International Arena back to grass.

That’s 34,859 square feet of green, in case you were wondering.

The LGCT/GCL president cited horse welfare as the impetus behind the decision to go back to the Arena’s grass roots.

“We are very excited to return our main arena to an outstanding grass surface with high quality footing for top level sport,” said Tops. “We know many of the world’s leading riders enjoy competing on grass and I am very pleased to make this transition and to ensure that Tops International Arena continues to deliver a world-class experience for horses, riders, spectators and guests.”

Also, it looks pretty.
