It was the best of times.

It was the worst of times.

And for Koos de Ronde (NED), it once was both the best and worst of times in the same minute.

Dubbed the “master of the marathon,” de Ronde is a force to be reckoned with on the obstacle course, navigating a team of four through the twists and turns of a hazard with fine precision and quick moving hands.

“The marathon has always been my thing,” said the world #2 combined driver. “It is spectacular speeds, technique to make a team of horses to turn on a very small circle and then accelerate again. Cantering through the water always gave me a big thrill.

“You must be a little crazy to do it!”

As history shows, it can also make you a little crazy when you do it…

Here de Ronde shares the best—and worst—moments of his marathon career. So far.
