Move over Simon Delestre. American Olympic champion McLain Ward has shot to the top of the Longines World Rankings.
A staple in the world top 10, Ward jumped four spots up the leaderboard with a clean sweep of victories the Rome CSI5* and a victory at Devon Horse Show CSI 3* last month. It’s his first time in the world #1 spot.

It only took us 25 years. I say us because it takes an army and I have so many people to thank for this I could not begin to mention all of you. Every teacher, owner, sponsor, vet and Mikey B, of course. Special thanks to Lee and Erica, 29 years through every up and down and still going strong, and my beautiful wife Lauren. But most of all my mom who was my first teacher and for those who know my riding style is most like and this guy who knew I would reach these heights before anyone else. I have been so blessed to have had so many great horses that have given me so much of themselves. This is a great honor because I have so much respect for my competitors. Now let’s keep our eye on the prize, Rio 2016
Congratulations, McLain!
France’s Simon Delestre is now second. Germany’s three-time Olympian Christian Ahlmann, third.
