Pauline Basquin is having the best year of her career in 2024.

She contested her first Olympic Games in Paris this past summer, and went on to achieve a new personal best in the freestyle of 81.910% at Lyon in November, her first post-Games appearance.

This week at Madrid Horse Week, she added another feather to her hunt cap—first FEI Dressage World Cup qualifier win.

Aboard her 2024 Paris Olympics partner Sertorius de Rima Z Ifce, the duo dominated the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Freestyle in Spain with scores of 73.109% and 80.925%, respectively. She now sits sixth in the Western European League standings.

Since 2022, Basquin (FRA) and Sertorius de Rima Z Ifce have been a staple in on the French team, representign the blue, white and red flag at the 2022 World Championship in Herning, the 2023 European Championships in Riesenbeck, GER, and the 2024 Paris Olympics. She’s aiming next for the 2025 FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final and 2025 European Championships in Crozet (FRA).

“We are working hard to improve, so perhaps one day we can win a medal,” she said.

The Dressage World Cup Qualifier Madrid is the fourth leg of the Western European League. Earning second place in the Grand Prix with a score of 72.870% and the Grand Prix Freestyle with a score of 79.415%, Carina Scholz (GER) and Tarantino 5 sit atop the standings. Third place of the Grand Prix was Fie Christine Skarsoe (LUX) and Imperator Dos Cedros with a score of 70.609%. The third place in the Grand Prix Freestyle is Beatriz Ferrer-Salat (ESP) and Elegance with a score of 77.735%.
