World no. 1 combination Jessica von Bredow-Werndl (GER) and TSF Dalera BB have contested nine FEI Dressage World Cup qualifiers and two World Cup Finals since 2019—and have never lost a Freestyle.
The reigning World Cup, European and Olympic champions kept their streak alive with a definitive win in Saturday’s Freestyle at Basel, Switzerland, the seventh leg of the FEI Dressage World Cup™ 2023/2024 Western European League.
Riding to their Paris-themed soundtrack, the pair earned maximum scores of 10 for Choreography, Degree of Difficulty and Music and Interpretation across the board from all five judges for a winning score of 91.010%. (Their personal best in the Freestyle is 91.732%.)
“It is difficult to find the right words to describe what Dalera has done for me and is still doing,” said von Bredow-Werndl of the now 17-year-old mare. “I not only want to maintain our current form, but also develop it further if possible and I am so thankful that Dalera wants to do it with me. So I will do my best for her and we will see what the rest of the season brings.”
Germany’s Isabell Werth on Emilio 107 (87.950%) and Matthias Alexander Rath with Destacado FRH took the second and third spots.
As defending champion, von Bredow-Werndl is automatically qualified for the FEI Dressage World Cup™ Final 2024 in Riyadh (KSA) in April but is not planning to compete, focusing instead on the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
Four legs remain in the Western European League. Sweden’s Patrick Kittel continues to lead the standings with 68 points with France’s Morgan Barbançon in second (56) and Germany’s Raphael Netz, third (52). The top nine athletes on the Wrold Cup Ranking list qualify for the final in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia in April.
