What do you get when you breed carefully selected European pedigrees supported by generations of proven performance horses on both sides?

A solid athletic prospect, for one thing, and that’s just what’s on offer at Okanagan Show Jumping Stables’ Spring Sale. This season’s list includes a selection of 20, jumping-oriented mares and stallions, ages four to six years old. All sales horses are registered with the Studbook Zangersheide and come with European papers.

Among those included are Luxiera Regina Z, a 5-year-old mare; Luxata Z, a 4-year-old mare; and Lavendor II Z, a 5-year-old chestnut stallion. As the offspring of Luxor Z, the pedigree of these young prospects includes the combined genes of “King of Sires,” Ramiro Z, with Zangersheide foundation mare Heureka Z, and the famous Holsteiner Stamm 18B1.

Other horses include the 4-year-old stallion Darc Light Z, 5-year-old stallion Darconello Z, and the 6-year-old mare Darconella Z, all by the famous grand sire, Darco, who produced more than 3,000 foals throughout the course of his breeding career. Many of these—including Luciana Diniz’s (BRA) famous stallion Winningmood, McLain Ward’s (USA) Olympic Team gold medal-winning mare Sapphire, Gregory Wathelet’s (BEL) HH Copin van de Broy, and others—have gone on to compete and win consistently at the highest level of sport.

It’s all part of Okanagan Show Jumping’s high-performance breeding philosophy, in which no compromises are made when selecting genetic material on both sides—especially the female line. As a result, Okanagan Show Jumping Stables boasts an impressive number of world-leading mare families that are reflected in their current progeny.

What’s more, following in the tradition of their family-owned stud farm, originally founded in Germany in the 70s by Gerwig and Elke Bahle, the now since 30 years B.C.-based Okanagan Show Jumping raises its young horses in accordance with strict European standards. Each foal receives all the necessary care from birth on, with a thoughtful feeding and supplement schedule, and room to roam in large pastures, where they grow up in carefully selected herds until they are three years of age.

Okanagan Show Jumping’s Spring Sale offers a range of options for both the hunter and jumper rings, with prospects suitable for amateur and professional riders, alike. (A selection of broodmares and studs are also available upon request for ambitious breeders.) Based in Canada, overhead costs typically associated with high-quality European imports (think: airfare, quarantine, exchange rate fluctuations, dealer markups, etc.) can be avoided. Reasonable breaking and training rates are also available for unbacked prospects.

In other words, this is a special chance to access some of the most important foundation lines of the Warmblood breeding and selection program at unprecedented values, right in North America. For a full list of Okanagan Show Jumping’s Spring Sale prospects, click here.
