Lillie Keenan has a new ride and she’s making the most of the opportunity.
The U.S. team rider has taken over the reins on Highway TN for the 2026 competition season and wasted no time cruising to their first Grand Prix win on Saturday night. The 14-year-old Dutch Warmblood stallion (Eldorado Vd Zeshoek TN x Chellano Z) was previously campaigned by Dutch Olympian Willem Greve (NED).
“I’m incredibly blessed that I got this opportunity,” said Keenan, who has deepened her string in a bid for the 2026 World Championships in Aachen and LA 2028 Olympic Games. “The relationship that he and Willem have—I can’t replicate that—but he educated the horse so beautifully. I know there’s nothing I’ll do that he hasn’t already done. [On Saturday], I wanted to get to know him and start to develop our own partnership.”
The newly minted pair made their competitive debut in the national division at Winter Equestrian Festival this week, finishing top five in Thursday’s qualifier and taking the win in their first GP appearance, Week 2’s Palm Beach Equine Clinic Grand Prix—by nearly three seconds.
“It was bold to go straight into a grand prix, but the horse knows his job,” she said. “If I’m any kind of professional, I should be able to do it, and we pulled it off.”
Highway TN is a seasoned championship horse. Under Willem, he represented the Netherlands at the 2023 European Championships and 2025 FEI Jumping World Cup Final, logging top 10 finishes in both, and won the 2024 Rolex Grand Prix at the Dutch Masters and the 2025 Longines FEI World Cup™ at Leipzig.
“I’ve always admired the horse’s ferocity,” said Keenan of the speedy stallion. “He’s very different than my other horses, and I think he’s going to make me a better rider. When the potential opportunity presented itself to have the ride, it was a no-brainer.
“Team Nijhof has placed huge trust in me,” she continued. “In a career, you only get so many opportunities with horses that truly love their job, and I can tell just by this horse’s expression that he really loves his job. I’m making the most of the moment.”
