On Sunday, Madison Goetzmann solidified her spot in equitation history as the 84th winner of the prestigious ASPCA Maclay National Championship at the CP National Horse Show in Lexington, KY.

Some 177 horses and riders contested the Final at Kentucky Horse Park. Goetzmann was in second, behind Jordyn Rose Freedman, after the Saturday’s over fences round, a challenging 12-fence serpentine designed by Bobby Murphy. She and equitation veteran San Remo VDL took over the lead following Sunday’s demanding flat phase. But it was their brilliant performance in the second over fences round that sealed the deal for judges Ralph Caristo and Bernie Traurig.

“Honestly, I tear up just thinking about it. My trainer also won this final, which makes it a really special win. It’s just incredible. It was a dream of mine to win,” said the high school senior.

Goetzmann also finished second in the $100,000 USEF Under 25 National Championship on Sunday. #Superstar
