The show coat.

What use to be a standard uniform in equestrian wear has evolved into a statement piece. Colors, cuts, style—it’s all up to the individual rider. This month, we hit the streets (or stables in this case) to see what the young trendsetters were wearing.

Alexa Leong: Bringing her A game!

Thirteen-year-old Alexa Leong has already amassed an impressive string of career highlights in both the equitation and jumper rings with JS Sporthorses. Equally impressive is her keen fashion sense. Alexa’s look is always on point from the latest breeches to the most unique coats. Her stand out look: a grey flocked coat with dazzling rhinestone and pearl buttons by Zuccolotto Designs (Alexa is an ambassador of the brand) that she usually pairs with white breeches and a matte black Samshield helmet.

Maggie Kehring: Squad goals

Maggie Kehring, a 14-year-old student at Rich Fellers Stables LLC, is often seen in the 1.30m ring sporting her favorite green Animo coat, black ice De La Coeur bonnet and TKEQ saddle pad. As an ambassador to TKEQ, Maggie states, “It’s so simple and looks gorgeous on any horse.” We love this young rider’s clean yet bold style.

Jessica Behar: Breaking outside the norm

Fifteen-year-old Jessica Behar, a hunter/equitation rider at Cavallo Stables, has managed to find her own unique style in the more conservative divisions of this sport. “I try, as much as I can, to find new things that will make me pop,” says Behar. We haven’t been able to catch her without one of her two Samshield helmets (the Miss Shield or the Shadow) on her head, complimenting her favored green RJ classic shadbelly and town Ariat boots.

Natalie Dean: Barn color rep

For Natalie Dean, an equitation/jumper rider at Willow Tree Farms, it’s all about incorporating barn colors into her show look. With a traditional style, you will often see her in tan Cavalleria Toscana breeches with her Hunter Green Wiston coat (which has lovely white topstitching), paired with a Shadow Matte Samshield. She’s only a slight obsessed with matching her show shirt to the rest of her outfit (socks and sweaters included!)

Sophia Siegel: Unique but not flashy

You might know her as “the girl in the blue coat.” Fifteen-year-old Sophia Siegel has built her style on the principle of standing out in the crowd, but not going over the top. “I like to leave people with something to recognize me by,” said Siegel with a grin. wearing her signature royal blue Manfredi show coat. We love that the Willow Tree Barnite mixes it up in maroon!

Keep on being fabulous in fashion!

‘Til next time,
