It’s been just a few short weeks since the FEI World Championships in Aachen, and already, the event feels far in the rearview. For the 32 teams that officially secured their Olympic berths in show jumping, eventing, dressage, and Para dressage, however, the next two years come with a new set of marching orders.
As the host nation, the United States earns an automatic quota spot. Meanwhile, impressive showings from Germany and Great Britain resulted in their qualification across all of the Olympic disciplines this summer in Aachen.
For those teams still waiting in the wings, the FEI European Championships in Waregem (August 11-15) and the Pan American Games in Lima (July 23-August 8)—both in 2027—along with a handful of qualification events around the globe will offer key, secondary opportunities.
So who’s planning to pack their bags for the City of Angels so far?
Eventing
The top seven teams from the FEI Eventing World Championships earned spots in the L.A. Games, with podium finishers Great Britain (84 penalties), Germany (95.6 penalties), and the United States (113.5 penalties) automatically qualified. Since Team USA already has their berth as host nation, however, eighth-place finisher Belgium also made the cut.
Ireland, who finished just off the podium, secured a berth after all five of their riders (as well as Georgie Goss, riding as an individual) went clear on cross country. The full roster of teams headed to L.A. so far include:

- Germany
- USA (host nation)
- Ireland
- Switzerland
- New Zealand
- Sweden
- Belgium
Among those surprise nations who still have yet to qualify are the Netherlands, which finished in ninth place, and Japan and France—the silver and gold medal-winning teams, respectively, at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games. With another eight berths up for grabs in the coming year, the pressure will certainly be on.
Dressage
Six national dressage teams along with seven Para dressage teams shored up their Olympic berths in Aachen. Among these were gold medal-winning Team Germany, silver medalists Great Britain, and Denmark in bronze. The USA, with their position as host nation secured, used the World Championships as an opportunity to field more inexperienced combinations, settling for eighth place overall.
Australia, in 13th place, was the highest-placed team in Southeast Asia and Oceania at Aachen (FEI Group G) and also earned an Olympic berth, while Portugal and Canada just missed out on qualification. Both teams will have another opportunity, however, in 2027 when the European Championships and Pan American Games roll around.

The U.S. Para dressage squad, however, did bring home a gold medal, with seven additional Olympic-qualified nations lining up behind them. These include:

Show Jumping
The top seven show jumping teams at the World Championships are on their way to L.A., with podium finishers Germany, Belgium, and Great Britain, joining the USA (who finished in fourth place), as host nation. Notably, Italy, in fifth place, will secure their first berth in more than two decades, having last competed as a team at the Athens Olympics back in 2004.
The Olympic-qualified teams in show jumping include:

On the other hand, Denmark, in 9th place, and the 2020 team gold medalists in Tokyo, Sweden, in 10th, missed the cut-off, and will now have to rely on one of three spots still available at the 2027 European Championships. Mexico and Canada, for their part, will also have to wait for the Pan American Games for their chance to punch their tickets to L.A. in 2028. Stay tuned!
