Rio Olympics in Brazil. Rolex Top Ten Final in Geneva, Switzerland. Adequan Grand Prix in Wellington, Florida. Eric Lamaze (CAN) doesn’t always show Fine Lady 5. But when he does, he tends to win.
“Every time I make a plan for her, she just seems to rise to the occasion,” said Lamaze of the 14-year-old Hanoverian mare.
“She’s become a horse you can really rely on, and know that she will be ready when it counts.”
The Rio bronze medalists made their first Grand Prix appearance of the year at Winter Equestrian Festival on Saturday Night, capturing the $130,000 CSI3* Adequan Grand Prix.
“I gave her a long rest after the Olympics, and started back and just did Paris and Geneva at the beginning of December,” said Lamaze.
“I plan on riding her at the Winter Equestrian Festival here since she is already fit from Geneva. She will do quite a bit at the beginning of the circuit, and then we’ll give her a rest before returning to Europe.”
It’s the Canadian rider’s second FEI win of the week.
On Thursday, Lamaze claimed the $35,000 Ruby et Violette WEF Challenge Cup Round III riding Houston. He is currently ranked eighth in the world.
Meredith Michaels-Beerbaum (GER) and Comanche 28 and Sergio Alvarez Moya (ESP) riding G&C Unicstar d’Laumone rounded out the top three, respectively, in the Adequan Grand Prix.
