StarLadies Racing enjoyed a strong start right out of the gate on opening weekend at Saratoga.

On Friday, promising maiden winner Stainless made her graded stakes debut in the $150,000 Shuylerville Stakes (G3), and closed well to finish third in only her second career start. The action took a detour to Pennsylvania on Saturday where Firsthand Report notched her third straight victory and second consecutive stakes win in the $100,000 Power By Far Stakes. The four-year-old daughter of Blame romped by three-lengths.

On Sunday, it was back to Saratoga. Orbolution, a $370,000 yearling purchase from the first crop of 2013 Kentucky Derby winner Orb (out of My Rachel), made her first start around two turns and on turf after two competitive efforts on the main track. With John Velazquez aboard, the precocious filly proved herself to be a star in the making after showing a sharp turn of foot and exploding in the stretch to draw off and win by 2 ½ lengths for trainer Todd Pletcher.

“Barb and I were just blown away by all of the fillies this weekend,” said Laurie Wolf, Starlight Ladies co-managing partner. “It was a great weekend for the StarLadies and a special high-five to partner Leigh Butler who brought the girls luck and made it to all three races this weekend.”

StarLadies Racing is an all-female horse racing partnership that was founded in 2013 by Laurie Wolf and Barbara Lucarelli.
