It is never easy to start a story with “After the loss of the mare to foaling…”

Skipping ahead to happier days, we bring you Nancy! A purebred homozygous black Irish Draft sired by Touch of the Blues.

Born slightly prematurely at Ord’s Farm, a livery yard a few miles outside of Newcastle in the United Kingdom, Nancy passed her initial vet checks but had low immunity, making her susceptible to infection in the first few weeks of her life. Owner Rebecca Newton and close friends Tom Goodacre and David Wright took turns sleeping in the adjoining stall to provide the foal around-the-clock bottle feeds, constant supervision, and strict hygiene control.

Now 12 hands high and weighing over 120kg, Nancy is well on her way to being a strong and healthy (not so little) girl!
